Terms of Service for QuickInk

Effective date: 1 October 2026 Last updated: 29 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of QuickInk: the QuickInk apps for iPhone and Android, the web app at quickink.org, and the services behind them, including sync, search and sharing (“QuickInk”, “the Service”). QuickInk is operated by thoughtbasics, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

By installing the app or using QuickInk you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use QuickInk. By using the Service you confirm that you are.

2. Your account

You sign in to QuickInk with your Apple account or your Google account. Accounts that QuickInk sets up with a password sign in with that email address and password instead. Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

You can delete your account as described at /delete-account/. You can also remove QuickInk’s access to your Google account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, or to your Apple account under Settings → Apple Account → Sign in with Apple on an iPhone.

3. The Service

QuickInk lets you scan paper, keep notes, voice notes, photos and files, organise them into folders and documents, search them, ask questions about them, and share documents with other people. When you are signed in, your content is synced to QuickInk’s cloud so it is backed up and available on your other devices and in the web app. Features may change, and some features may be released gradually.

Some features use AI: online transcription of scanned pages, titles and descriptions for new scans and voice notes, and answers in Ask. They run only after you allow online AI, as the Privacy Policy explains. Their results are made by a machine and can be wrong. Check anything important against the original document.

4. License to use the app

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the QuickInk apps on devices you own or control, and to use the web app, for your personal or internal business use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the app except as permitted by law; scrape or mass-extract data via automated means; resell or sublicense the app; remove notices; or attempt unauthorized access to the Service or other users’ data.

5. Your content

You own the content you create or upload. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service: to store, transmit, back up, and display your content to you and to the people you choose to share it with, and to process it as described in the Privacy Policy, on your device and, for the online AI features you allow, through our AI provider. We claim no other rights. We do not use your content for advertising or model training.

You are responsible for your content and for keeping independent backups of anything critical. Scan and share only material you have the right to digitize and distribute.

6. Acceptable use (due diligence under the IT Rules, 2021)

You must not host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update, or share any information that: belongs to another person and to which you have no right; is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another’s privacy (including bodily privacy), insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, or racially or ethnically objectionable; encourages money laundering or gambling, or is otherwise unlawful; is harmful to children; infringes any patent, trademark, copyright, or other proprietary right; deceives or misleads about the origin of a message or knowingly and intentionally communicates misinformation or patently false information; impersonates another person; threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security, or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, or incites a cognizable offence, or is insulting to another nation; contains a software virus or code designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit any computer resource; or is patently false and untrue, written or published with the intent to mislead or harass for financial gain or injury.

We may remove content or suspend accounts on receiving actual knowledge (including a court or government order) that content violates these rules or applicable law, within the timelines the law prescribes.

7. Sharing and published content

A share link makes a document available to anyone with the link, subject to the controls you set: a password, an expiry date, whether viewers can download it, and whether viewers must enter their email address. You can turn a link off at any time, but copies people have already downloaded stay with them. Inviting someone by email lets them view the document in their own QuickInk account; they cannot change it. You are responsible for what you share. We may disable shared content that violates Section 6.

8. Grievance redressal

Complaints about the Service or about content on it go to our Grievance Officer, Achal B Indiresh, at admin@thoughtbasics.com. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days of receipt. Complaints alleging exposure of private imagery of an individual are actioned within 24 hours of receipt, as required by the IT Rules, 2021.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on providers including Supabase (database and sign-in), PowerSync (sync between your devices and our database), Cloudflare (file storage, share pages and the AI features), Google Cloud (hosting for the web app), and Apple and Google (sign-in and the app stores). The Privacy Policy lists them all and what each one receives. When you sign in with Apple or Google, or get the app from the App Store or Google Play, their own terms also apply to that use. We are not responsible for outages or data loss caused by third-party providers, though we choose and monitor them with care.

10. Availability and changes

The Service is provided as-is and may be updated, modified, or discontinued. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. If we discontinue the Service, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your content.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS; THEY APPLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THOUGHTBASICS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR ₹2,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING UNDER THE DPDP ACT, 2023.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify thoughtbasics against claims and expenses arising from (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your content, or (c) your violation of law or third-party rights.

14. Termination

You may stop using QuickInk at any time and delete your account per /delete-account/. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms (including Section 6) or if we discontinue the Service. Sections 5, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified in-app or on this page. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
